Mini Route for Our Guests in Bucak

1 Day in Bucak: Mini Route for Our Guests

Bucak, the warm and welcoming district of Burdur, is a hidden paradise in the Mediterranean Region, blending history, nature and culture. Located in a strategic position on the Antalya–Burdur highway, Bucak has been an important settlement on trade routes between east and west throughout history. Thanks to this feature, it has a rich heritage full of caravanserais, ancient cities and natural beauty from the Seljuk and Ottoman periods.

Morning: Starting with Nature at Oğuzhan City Forest

For our guests who want to start the day with nature, the first stop can be Oğuzhan City Forest. This park, which is close to the district center, is ideal for morning walks with its walking paths, green areas and peaceful atmosphere. After a short walk accompanied by bird sounds, it is a great starting point for breakfast.

Historical Structures: İncir Han and Susuz Han

To get to know Bucak's historical texture up close, there is İncir Han Caravanserai. İncir Han is currently located about 6 km west of Bucak District, near İncirdere Village, on the edge of a hill with a gushing spring next to it. İncir Han, built in the region thought to be the ancient city of Kretopolis, is the fourth waypoint on the Antalya-Isparta caravan route during the Anatolian Seljuk period, after Evdir, Kırkgöz and Susuz Han. The upper part of the long hall of the han has collapsed, but other sections are intact. It is said that a market was set up in front of the han in the past. Due to the effects of rain and wind, the interior of this caravanserai has been partially filled with earth. The gate made of white marble, with inward carvings and arches, is one of the masterpieces of Seljuk architecture. According to the inscription in the middle of the upper part of the gate; it is understood that this Caravanserai was built by Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev bin Keykûbad in Hijri 636 (A.D. 1239-1240). There is a bathhouse and fountain about 200 m from the Han. The bathhouse is in ruins today, but the fountain is flowing. The bathhouse, together with İncir Han, formed a complex.

Another valuable structure, Susuz Han Caravanserai, is located on the Antalya-Burdur highway, at the 72nd km, 2 km inside from the main road in Susuz Village. Susuz Han is the 3rd waypoint on the Antalya-Isparta-Konya caravan route during the Anatolian Seljuk Period, after Evdir and Kırkgöz Han. The structure has no construction inscription. When we look at its construction features, it reflects the architectural features of a typical 13th century caravanserai. It was probably built in the same period as İncir Han. Susuz Han's body walls, covering systems and crown gate, which are distinctive architectural elements, are present today.

Afternoon: Ancient City Tour – Kremna Ancient City

For history and archaeology enthusiasts, the afternoon stop should be Kremna Ancient City. This ancient city, located about 10 km east of Bucak, on the Aksu (Kestos) valley, carries the legacy of the Pisidian civilization. Kremna, which experienced its brightest period in the 2nd century A.D., contains traces of different civilizations (Lydian, Persian, Roman and Byzantine). With the library, basilica and ancient structure remains, history comes alive before your eyes.

In the Lap of Nature: Karacaören Dam

For those who want to turn to nature after history, Karacaören 1 & 2 Dams are a great option. These dams on the Aksu River are preferred as hiking and picnic areas beyond their functions of irrigation and energy supply.
